The Opinion of My Readers

August 19, 2011 1 comment

I have a few things to say, and I would like my readers’ opinions.

First, what do you think about a 8 or 10 year old girl wearing a short jean miniskirt ( with nothing else but undies, at least I hope, lol. ) to a church service? ( Saturday or Sunday morning/evening. ) What is your opinion on this?

Second, what do you think about wearing tight leggings ( by themselves ) as your ” bottom ” wear? ( I mean like shirt as your top wear and leggings as your bottom wear. )

Lastly, a one piece ( bathing suit ) vs. a two piece ( bathing suit ).

Being Modest In an Immodest World

August 18, 2011 1 comment

It’s not easy being modest in an immodest world. You can be stared at, questioned, and teased sometimes when you don modest attire. I need to find the verse ( I can be terrible at remembering verses sometimes. ) but Jesus said that if we follow him that we will be perscuted. Perscution can be a number of things like teasing, discrimination, etc.

Obedience to God is what matters.

One day, this Earth will pass away, and the saved will go to heaven. You will not take anything to heaven like your worldly ( of this Earth ) posessions.

Anyway, I’m getting off topic. Obedience to God really does matter. Christians are to obey God in every aspect of life.

If obedience for you means long dresses or loose pants, then ok! Just wear what you think God would want you to wear. A good question to ask yourself is:” If I was going to dinner with God, would he think this to be appropiate? “

When God Calls……

When God calls, do you answer? When God tells you to do something, do you obey?

I’m a mere teenager, and I hope I haven’t offended any adult readers, but our obedience to God is very important. If you believe he wants you to don modest clothes and/or start the head coverings, pray to him for guidance, and obey.

There are a good many of head covering/modest clothing resources on the Internet. Search around and you’ll find some good prices.

Having been a modesty convert for about 5 or 6 months now, and still living with my parents, I haven’t been able to buy anything on the Internet. ( due to the two facts that I’m a terrible saver sometimes and I haven’t asked my parents yet. )

Anyway, I will include a few links to some headcoverings/modest attire sites soon…..

Modesty Can Be Fashionable

Just look at the Muslim women with their stylish hijabs! You can still folllow God/Allah’s will but be stylish, even fashionable!

My mom is ” supportive “, I suppose you could say, of my head covering, though. I don’t think she’s realized yet that I cover for religious purposes! XD I’m not sure where my dad stands on the whole head scarf thing. One day, months ago, when I walked out in a long skirt, he asked me,” Where did you get that skirt? ” So I’m not sure where he stands on my whole modest attire thing. One night, on a ride back him, my sister, my dad, and I were discussing clothing. He then commented that he hasn’t seen me wear jeans in a while. I struggled to come up with an answer, but I didn’t mention modesty at all.

Feeling Alone?

Are you the only one or one of the few women/men in your family that dress modestly? Feeling alone because you think no one shares your beliefs?

You’re not alone.

If you have the privilege of a computer or a mobile device w/ internet access, try searching for online modesty groups ( with your parents’ or if you’re a woman, your husband’s permission ). There are some out there. ( There are even some on Facebook, I’m a member of one. )

You may not know any ” modesty fanatics ” in real life, but there are some out there in cyberspace.

If any of you readers have some prayer requests, feel more than free to comment and I’ll pray for you. 🙂

God bless you all!

Skirts vs. Jeans

I believe this is a hot topic. Which are ” appropiate ” and ” modest ” to wear? Both can be equally immodest and inappropiate.

When you’re wearing a skirt, try to find a full length mirror in your house. If you bend over and things are revealed that shouldn’t be revealed, try to find a longer skirt or get some loose leggings.

When you’re wearing jeans, look at yourself in a full length mirror. Make sure your jeans are loose, and that they don’t accentuate anything it shouldn’t.

Of course, you’re not always going to have the privilege of having a full length mirror. If you’re still living with your parents, room mate, or you’re married, ask the person you’re currently living with if the clothes you’ve donned is appropiate. Ask them key questions like:” Are these jeans too tight around my bottom/front area? ” ” When I wear this skirt and bend over, can you see anything that shouldn’t be seen? ” ” Is this shirt accentuate anything? Is it too tight. “

Always respect your parents’ or spouse’s opinion/rules on what you should and should not wear in public.

Have a great day and God bless!

When Did Immodesty Become Acceptable?

August 18, 2011 1 comment

I know I keep referring back to the old days, but what teens ( adults alike ) wear to church today I believe would have been horrifyingly for women in church to wear 100 years ago. I’m not trying to be judgmental, but the style of clothing today appalls me. When did dresses above the knee and straps ( or no straps ) become acceptable church attire? ( I’m not saying they’re necessarily inappropriate, and I’m not saying any of you are ” wrong ” to wear that style of dress. )

When did slits in our skirts/dresses that come really high up acceptable?

When did immodesty become acceptable in the church, or anywhere for that matter?

I wish our pastors would talk more on the subject of ” Modesty In The Church “.
