Every Great Post Doesn’t Have a Title………

September 27, 2011 Leave a comment

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks. My mom is training to be a peer counselor for women wanting to breast-feed their babies and my dad can’t work because he’s on disability. So I have three ( half the time ) lovely children to help take care of, still complete my homeschool schoolwork, and have time to myself! Thankfully she isn’t gone more than about 7 ( 9 sometimes ) hours and I like letting everyone sleep til 10. ( And she only has to go a couple of times a week. )

Anyway! I haven’t been able to blog as much and I haven’t really  have ideas for a post lately. ( Another reason as to why I haven’t been posting multiple posts in a day. ) I also spend a lot of time playing games, reading, and surfing the web.

The subject of head coverings has been on my mind a lot lately ( when I have time to think ). What qualifies to be a head covering? Does it have to cover a certain amount of hair to be able to be deemed a head covering?

What are your thoughts?

Hats!!!!!!!!

September 25, 2011 1 comment

My mom crochets. I crochet, but I have an extremely difficult time following a pattern. So, right now she is currently working on making me a scarf! 🙂

I would love to wear crocheted hats ( except I’d wear a head scarf to church ) but as I said, I have a hard time following a pattern. So after my mom finishes the scarf, I’m thinking about asking her to make me a simple black hat. I got the pattern for free online so it’s all ready!

I will post pics when it’s done. ( Which may be a few weeks, and if she has the yarn to make it…which I don’t doubt, LOL! )

How To Be Modest?

September 24, 2011 Leave a comment

There is no How To Be Modest 101 handbook in life. You, ( or your community depending on your beliefs, or your parents if you aren’t a legal adult.  ) decide what’s modest for you. Example: My 10 year old sister wears jeans. Okay, Mom’s fine with it. But with certain jeans, like skinny jeans, she requires my sister to wear a shirt long enough to cover her booty.

Don’t ever hesitate to ask your parents about what you can wear and such. If you’ve got an outfit in your closet that you’re not 100% sure they’ll let you wear in public, ask ’em!!

I wear skirts, but I do dance in shorts sometimes. Am I wrong to do it? No! Because in my family it’s considered modest or ok to do so.

What’s your modesty style?

When Modesty Becomes Immodest

September 23, 2011 2 comments

I’ve read many discussions on modesty. Some being this: Long skirts and buns ( or anyway you have your hair ) can draw attention to you, so it is modest any longer?

This is something I’ve been pondering for a few days. Do mu head scarfs draw too much attention? Would a simple ponytail be better? Should I not wear longer skirts, perhaps knee length? Still, any long jean skirts ( non-miniskirts ) still draw a bit of attention.

What’s a girl to do?!??!??!?!?!?!?!

I need to do some saving, online shopping, and find some knee length skirts. Definitely some more dresses, for casualness and church.

Please comment with your thoughts. I’m feeling confused.

Modestly Fashionable ( for an inexpensive price! )

September 22, 2011 Leave a comment

Modesty doesn’t have to mean frumpy! From colorful prints to beautiful head scarfs, it can be an adventure. But it can drain your wallet if you’re not careful! Here are some tips for getting good, modest clothes for a good price.

1. THRIFT STORES!!!!!!!! Haha I’m not kidding you! I shop at thrift stores for clothes most of the time. I can find good quality clothes ( occasionally good shoes too! ) for a great price! Honestly, I have a hard time paying over $10 for every skirt I buy.

2. Shop online. Look around, educate yourself, and try to find the best price out there.

3. Yard sales.

Just a note: I generally buy my unmentionables new. 😉

Why?

That’s a question I often ask myself. Why? Why am I suddenly having different modesty convictions from my parents? Why am I covering my head? Why do I endure the stares of rude and curious people?

Because God has commanded me to.

My conscience steps in a lot when I try on immodest clothing or think about immodest clothing. I’m ashamed and cast them away from me.

Comment with your favorite Bible verse on modesty. 🙂

God bless!
