What Truly Defines Modesty?

October 22, 2011 Leave a comment

Biblically, I think it’s not trying to draw attention to oneself. Whoa, this does not mean you can walk around scantily clad and say ” Oh I’m not trying to draw attention to myself. ” While you leave five guys ( or girls ) drooling ( lusting )  behind you. ( But you can be lusted after even whilst dressed modestly! We just try and help prevent some of it by dressing modestly. )

When I ask what truly defines modesty, I’m not asking which article of clothing is more modest than the other.  I’m asking what truly defines modesty with your attitude and the way you act. I often forget that modesty isn’t just in the clothes, it’s also in your attitude and in the way you act.

Just my two cents.

Oh, and by the way, check out my new blog!

Just Letting Y’all Know……..

October 20, 2011 Leave a comment

I realize I haven’t posted for a few days now, it’s been busy yet sad. Around 12 AM, October 20, the older male family cat, Tippy Toes, passed away. He was about 13 years of age, and I’ve been kind of depressed about his passing. :/ Plus, I haven’t had a good idea for a post.

Just letting y’all know in case I’m not on here for a while.

The Head Covering

October 15, 2011 Leave a comment

I’m tired, it’s around 6 in the morning, and I’m not going to be falling asleep for a while now. So! I’ve decided to blog a bit.

What I’ve been thinking about recently is as to whether women are more submissive to their husbands when they’re wearing a head covering, or less submissive when they’re not covered.

From what I’ve seen, in my opinion, it sometimes depends on the woman. Mom doesn’t cover but she still is submissive towards my dad.

Also, I think the head covering is more of a physical reminder to submit to the husband’s ( or Dad’s ) authority, and keep you a little more focused in church. The head covering won’t make you perfect, but it can sure change your attitude. 🙂

Which Head Covering To Wear?

I hate giving off the impression I’m someone I’m not, same goes with donning a head scarf and giving off the impression ( at least to some ) that I’m Muslim. I want people to look at me and be able to tell that I’m ” different “, but likewise I don’t want them mistaking me for something I’m not. Glory be to God, right?

Anyway, I will be wearing either a black head scarf or a white bandana as my head covering in the next 12 hours ( I’m going to a Casting Crowns concert ). I would really like to don a white bandana, it wouldn’t look so out of place as the head scarf.

So, off topic, I’m really excited about the concert! LOL

Submission Towards The Head of The Household

Let me just say that I’m not perfect, and please don’t think so. I’m not holier or better than you, I’m just a teen trying to find the truth.

The head covering, for me, has taught me more about submission than I ever thought it could. I had even more respect for the male head of my family ( my dad ) than I ever have. I was more submissive than usual, and I was more cautious with my tongue.

I’m not saying that the head covering will make you perfect, but it can definitely teach you a few things.

May Yahweh bless your day!! 🙂

I think….

I think I’ve decided within myself that after this dance year I definitely want to cover full-time so therefore I’ll have to quit. Oh I dislike saying that. :/ I start thinking I will change my mind after I say that……..

The head scarfs are also giving off the wrong impression I think. I want to look Christian. Sure there’s nothing necesssarily wrong with my Muslim-like appearance, but I just don’t think it’s giving the right impression.

Should I just cover in church until after this dance year and then quit to cover full-time? Are people going to take me seriously if I still cover everywhere else but dance?

I don’t feel like going out in public right now. :/

Kerchiefs, Veils, Head scarfs, and Burkas?

October 12, 2011 Leave a comment

Some wear kapps, some wear veils, some wear kerchiefs, some wear head scarfs, but some wear burkas.

I like the mysteriousness of the burka, lol.

From what I’ve seen, most start donning burkas after their menstrual cycle begins.

Some think burka wearers are oppressed, some are. But I think, however naively it may be, some may truly wear them out of choice. I can understand some people’s ” logic ” behind the burka. I don’t necessarily agree with it, but Yahweh created us all differently, so I’ll respect everyone’s opinions.

Anyway, the burka topic is a somewhat sticky, hot one. The burka bans. Religious intolerance or security issue? Don’t get me started, off topic anyway.

Do you wear or know someone who wears the burka? What are the reasons behind it for you? Do you wear a veil? Do you wear any head covering at all? If not, explain your convictions for us all. Remember, keep it civil. All comments are and will be moderated.

May Yahweh bless your day!
